Set of all six posters; Stay True, Stay Strong, Stay in Love, Stay Kind, Stay Fierce, Stay Woke, all are 12.5" x 19" letterpress printed in two colors on cover weight chip board.
These posters were letterpress printed at The Press at Colorado College. All of the money raised from this project (after we cover basic material and shipping costs) will be donated in equal amounts to the following organizations: the American Civil Liberties Union, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the NAACP, Inside/Out Youth Services, and the Black Educators Network in El Paso County, CO.
The initial goal for these prints was simple: provide a space and an activity for people to come together to support one another and make a public statement against hate. Using the work and workshops of the printer Amos P. Kennedy, Jr. as a model, we opened up our studio at Colorado College and invited people to come in and print, and to change or add to the text as they saw fit. In the first two days we printed and distributed almost 700 posters.
We hope that these posters will be displayed to promote a continuing engagement in the work of social and racial justice. These are posters that stand against white supremacy, patriarchal oppression, and all of the cruelty and dehumanization of those systems. These posters are not enough. The work has always been going, and it must continue. Please stay engaged.
[Please note that the images here show 5 of the 6 prints. There is one more with the text “Stay Woke.”]
