Risograph Printing x Collage Mashup | June 22, 2024, 1-5pm

Ladyfingers Letterpress

Saturday, June 22, 2024, 1-5pm

Learn this unique printmaking method through the art of collage! In this fun mashup class, we will compose black and white collages from our trove of hand-picked + vintage ephemera collected over the years, and then bring them to colorful life through analog risograph printing! We’ll play with image selection, composing & color combos to send you off with beautiful risograph prints to share + take home.

Risograph (ree-sow-graf) printing is a fun (and environmentally friendly) print-making process invented in Japan that looks like a photocopier, works as a screenprinter, and uses stencils and rich spot colors to create vibrant, unique prints.

The Class

  • Risography basics: history, inspiration, print demonstration & all the quirks
  • Collage composing using provided lettering, graphics, images, textures, photos
  • Printing a set of 15, 3-color prints on 8.5 x 11” cover weight paper in variety of colors
  • Print swap — take home prints from the class to start your collection
  • Small workshop format — maximized time to compose and print

Great For:

  • People brand new to risograph and want to learn — beginner/non-artist friendly!
  • Riso fans + those who want a refresher & some extended printing fun
  • Anyone who wants to take future intermediate riso class/workshop with us

This class is led by our riso-in-residence Sara DeRoseLauren McKenzie of REN Creativ.
