November is a month full of moments to appreciate family and friends, to see and support one another, and to hold close the depth and beauty of culture.
It is a month full of programming and holidays, from Día de Muertos in the beginning to Thanksgiving at the end, with Native American Heritage Month lasting everywhere in between.
It is also the month when we are debuting our new year-long project called Printmaking Free For All, made possible by an Arts Vision Grant of the Pikes Peak Fund for the Arts.
*Made possible by the Arts Vision Grant of the Pikes Peak Fund for the Arts.
When: Friday, November 4th, 2022 from 4pm - 8pm
Where: Ladyfingers Letterpress
This is the kickoff to our new year-long project where we pay artists to create a print in support of a community project or program they have an affinity for or a relationship with. Everyone is invited to make their own print for FREE during First Friday and all donations support the project. Meet the artist or designer, learn about the project, and how to get involved or continue your support. Artists and programs walk away with a big stack of prints to use as they need. We call that a WIN-WIN-WIN, come join the Printmaking Free for All each month.
Join us in supporting the local street paper: The Springs Echo. This local paper addresses an issue that impacts many of our families, friends, and culture - homelessness. The Springs Echo provides many things for our community including but not limited to:
A Voice for the Voiceless: A platform for our friends living on the street to have a voice.
The Dignity of Honest Work: The Echo provides a source of income for those who wish to be vendors of the paper.
Educate the Public: The Echo works to educate the friends living in houses about the issues surrounding homelessness.
Advocate for the Poor: The Echo works to identify and provide solutions to living condition inequities.
Support Good Work: The Echo highlights the works of love, support, and encouragement provided by organizations and individuals.
Encourage Democratic Participation: We help people register to vote and report on the state, county, and city government activities that impact our communities.
During this event we invite everyone to crank out a letterpress print. We’ll have the press set up to run a design created with The Springs Echo team. They will be available to chat during the event and you can learn how to support, participate and get involved in their work. For more information on The Springs Echo please visit https://www.thespringsecho.com

Intentional giving. That’s always our motivation and guiding principle. It isn’t about more stuff or crossing things off a list this time of year or ever. A hand written card is just as meaningful as any item with wrap and bow. We are not a giant corporation hiking prices up and claiming it is inflation while we pocket profits and see others struggle. We started to rethink our approach to Small Business Saturday a few years ago, assessing what the needs of our community are. Who needs what? How can we be a link or share what we have to lessen those needs? It looks different every year and here is what it looks like this year…The Pikes Peak Pantry is a mutual aid project we have been a part of for years. Continuity of support is something we value and work towards. You can always purchase a tea towel or tote and those funds are given in full to purchase food and necessities for the pantry. This year we ask you to pause after Thanksgiving and join us in stocking the pantry. If you have the resources to share, we want to collect items on Small Business Saturday for @pikespeakpantry. If you are coming to see us and support our work, will you also support our neighbors? Bring what you can (we have shared a list of suggestions and requests).
We have 15 gift bags to share with folks who bring in items for the pantry. These bags are stocked with goods, gifts and surprises. Additionally, all customers on this day will receive a special top secret gift that we are designing and releasing just for this event! We’ll also be offering free gift bags, tissue paper and be on hand to help in any way we can to lessen the load you might be feeling this time of year.
One last note - we, like many others, have felt the economic bumps this year. You will be able to find a huge assortment of gifts under $20 for just about anyone. We know that things continue to be hard for just about everyone (but jeff and elon) and we have adjusted our offerings while continuing to support other businesses we believe in. Thank you for your intentional support this day and all the other days.
