Making art is one thing, but making art that is easily understood and inspires connection is another! Here at Ladyfingers Letterpress, Making Messages That Matter *is* our art, and in this workshop we will explore the different ways to translate your message into a phsyical, tangible object by way of handlettering and printmaking.

This workshop will be especially unique in that it combines a few of our popular classes (Hand Lettering, Intro to Letterpress, Intro to Risograph) and adds a layer of meaning into the subject matter. We will begin the class by going over topics that you, our students, are passionate about, and discussing ways to present them in a way that are relatable and memorable. Lettering Artist and Ladyfingers Co-Founder will then lead students through a hand-lettering exercise where you will gain skills to draft your message into a hand-lettered layout. Students will have access to our Risograph Machine and a variety of lead type for use on our Vandercook 219 Letterpress to produce their messages into a printed object, as guided by printmaker and Ladyfingers (other) Co-Founder Morgan Calderini. Ultimately, the medium of the finished product that you take home will be decided by each individual student, but some potential outcomes could be cards, posters, zines and stationery. Some students may choose to solely utilize the Risograph or Vandercook Letterpress to produce their work or opt to create a one-of-a-kind hand-lettered piece, while others may want to experiment with a variety of media to get their message across. Nothing is off the table!

The fully-stocked working studio of Ladyfingers Letterpress will be yours for the day, and students will have access to the same creative tools and materials that Arley and Morgan use to produce their own work, with the added benefit of having Arley and Morgan present to lead each student through their own creative processes.
