How to Export Your Work for Letterpress Printing with Polymer Plates: A Virtual File Prep Workshop | June 1, 2024

Ladyfingers Letterpress

Remotely via Zoom:
Saturday, June 1
12-3pm

Are you a designer looking to translate your work for letterpress? Need a little help setting up your files for polymer plates? If you are getting into letterpress printing yourself or are working with a letterpress printer on an upcoming project, you will need to familiarize yourself with the specifications required to export your work into photopolymer plates. Never fear, we're here to help!

Polymer plates are a recent technology (that is, if you consider the ‘80s to be recent!) that allows the freedom and flexibility to translate any illustration or design into a type-high plate that can be used in conjunction with a specialized machined base for letterpress printing. Once you learn how to prepare your work for polymer plates, you will be equipped to work with letterpress printers and be able to translate your work for print!

This workshop will be remotely conducted over Zoom, and will require access to a computer that has Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape (a free alternative to Illustrator) loaded. Students are welcome to have a working file to bring to the class or can follow along from scratch.
