We're really bad at this stuff…

but perhaps you already knew that, because as you can see, we don't send emails out that often. I suppose it’s a sign that we're too busy making stuff to pause and talk about all the things going on in the shop… but I guess marketing is kind of a thing, and after 16 years of being in business, it might be time for us to stop feeling like we’re just allergic to it and start being, like, professional about it. Or something.

 So, I am making this announcement into a public declaration in order to keep myself accountable to making our newsletters a more frequent thing. Does this happen to coincide with the kids’ first day back at school? Maaaaaaaybe. But for now let’s ride this burst of optimism for as long as possible.. or at least until mid-May when summer break picks back up!

Happy Birthday, Kathy!

Little known fact, but the author who penned “America The Beautiful” was actually super gay! Katharine Lee Bates, the woman behind what almost became America’s national anthem and a tragically straight-washed queer icon, was born on August 12, 1859—but since August 12 fell on a Wednesday, we’re waiting to party hard until a nice relaxing Saturday! If you're local, we hope you join us as we reclaim this historically patriotic figure as one of the LGBTQ community’s most culturally significant members with cupcakes and a little birthday song!

Advanced Hand-Lettering:
Spaces Still Available!

We have a few spaces left in our Advanced Hand-Lettering class! If you or someone you love has been bitten by the hand-lettering bug and is interested in furthering their lettering skills, this is it! Students in this intimate class taught by Letterer Arley Torsone will explore the different ways that professionals create layouts, compositions and engaging multi-word lettering illustrations!

Do you know about Saturday Studio?

As I mentioned before, we really suck at advertising. It’s not your fault you don’t know about this weekly event we hold at the shop, because we haven’t really talked about it! We created Saturday Studio as a response to the droves of folks who enter our doors searching for community, creativity and connection. Join us every Saturday morning at the shop between 10am-12pm and bring something to work on! Make a drawing! Write a poem! Send an email! We don’t care! (As long as you’re not a jerk!)

We made some new stuff!

Every year, we officially release a collection of new designs in January and July. Welp, if you missed us talking about our latest release on our Instagram this summer, you can check it out on our website! We created 36 new products, from cards to tote bags to stickers, and we'd love to hear what you think!
